the Gaian path

In order to help others understand what i mean when i say i'm not Wiccan, i'm a Gaian Witch.  Here are the basic beliefs of the Gaian path:

1. we are a part of Nature, not apart from it.

2. all life is sacred and equal. no one life form is any more important than the other. We   are  only primates, Apes, nothing more. nothing less. our only difference is our ability to think in the abstract.   

3. all things living die. the only thing that matters is that Life continues in some form. There is no Law that says that Lifeforce must be contained within a biological vessel.  Gaia is the greatest vessel and all Lifeforce is an emanation from Her.  

4. Nature is not evil, nor does evil exist in Nature. Evil is created by human philosophies and   belief systems. Evil is only that which you do not like. 

5. we only anthropomorphize deity in order to align our subconcious with the archetype and stories carried with it. our holy trinity is Earth/ Sun/ Moon. without either we would die.

6. most magic worked is for the environment and the helping of others in more meaningful way other than love gratification, money, power. we use magic to increase food production for the hungry, opening of various forms of shelters for the homeless, etc. ecomagic.  healing magic for body/mind/soul. magic is merely probability enhancement. ritual is merely a subtle form of psychodrama designed to align our subconcious desires with our concious desire.

I was born Pagan,  I am not a convert. I have always been Gaian, but there were no names for it then. the common name now is Hedge, or Green. The current pop culture greening is, in my eyes, the realization that the xtian philosophy that the world is evil and therefore should be forced into a submissive order and shown no care,  is invalid. the world is returning Pagan.  Greenwitch, Eco witch, Gaian are just names for a mesolithic state of understanding how Nature works.

My personal mental survey of philosophies:  stoic, zen, buddhist,antagonisticism,animist,

                                                                                 primitivist (to a point).

there are not many sources for Gaian ideologies. I suggest reading lovelock (the gaia hypothesis), christian ratsch (plants of the gods), bellwood (first farmers) and farmers almanacs, back to  the earth how to books. folklore and folkmagic. then stop practicing. just do. live the path. dont keep reading about it as that creates the ideology of nature being external. Pagan religio-spirituality is not revelatory, no messiahs to take our hand. it is experiential. we must participate in the forces of nature to grow and to know. a book is just one persons thought on what worked for them.  but ultimately the book is just a dead tree.

I'm sure wiccans and pagans would agree that the shelves are filled with wicca 101 and not much more. there is no 102, 103....after you learn the basics of the belief system, you must live it. apply it to your life. create new rules for the ones that don't work for you.

that is the Gaian path.  be outside.  feel the rain on your body. the sun heating you up. smell the life around you.  sometimes soft, sometimes harsh. extend your senses. deify that which gives you life. honor Mama Gaia and Papa Sun with seeds planted. with feeding birds. with helping struggling life become a stronger flame in the fire of lifeforce.
